2 tb Extra-virgin olive oil 1 ts Sugar
1/2 c Onion(s) 1 tb Soy sauce
Sliced or chopped 1/2 ts Dried savory
8 oz Mushrooms (any variety) 2 ts Cornstarch mixed with
1 ts Salt 1/4 c Cold water
Place the oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and saute
until they become slightly browned, 2-3 min. Add 1/2 cup water, then
add the mushrooms and cover the skillet. Simmer for 30 min. The
mushrooms will greatly reduce in size and be completely covered with
liquid.
Add the salt, sugar, soy sauce, and savory and stir. Simmer for
another 5 min, then stir in the cornstarch mixture, blend until
thickened, and serve.
