Cooking Preparation of the Recipe:

4 Bacon strips, diced 1/4 ts Dried red pepper flakes
1 lg Onion, chopped 1 Bay leaf
1/3 c Dry lentils 1 cn Whole tomatoes with liquid,
1 1/3 c Water -chopped (16 oz)
2 tb Ketchup 1 cn Pinto beans, drained (15 oz
1 ts Garlic powder 1 cn Kidney beans, drained
3/4 ts Chili powder -(16 oz.)
1/2 ts Ground cumin

Lightly fry bacon in a heavy 3-qt. saucepan. Add onion; cook until
transparent. Stir in remaining ingredients. Cook over medium heat for 45
minutes or until lentils are tender, stirring only once or twice. Remove
bay leaf before serving.
