8 oz Elbow macaroni 4 oz Ham -- coarsely chopped
2 tb Butter or margarine 1/4 c Basil -- chopped
2 tb Flour 2 c Sargento 6 Cheese Italian
1 3/4 c Milk -Recipe Blend -- divided
1/2 ts Salt Fresh ground pepper
1/8 ts Cayenne pepper
Cook macaroni according to package directions. In large saucepan melt
butter over medium heat. Add flour; stir 1 minute. Add milk, salt
and cayenne pepper; heat to a boil, stirring constantly. Drain
macaroni; add to saucepan. Toss to coat with sauce. Remove from
heat; add ham and basil; toss again. Transfer half of macaroni
mixture to greased shallow baking dish. Top with 1 cup cheese.
Repeat layering with remaining macaroni mixture and remaining 1 cup
cheese. Bake uncovered at 350 for 25 to 30 minutes. Serve with
freshly ground pepper.
