Cooking Preparation of the Recipe:

3/4 c Soft butter 1/4 ts Salt
1 ts Vanilla 2 Eggs well beaten
1 1/2 c All-purpose flour 1 ts Vanilla
1/2 c Icing sugar 1/2 c Chopped walnuts (optional)
1 c Granulated sugar 1/2 c Shredded coconut
1/4 c All purpose flour 1/2 c Chopped maraschino cherries
1 ts Baking powder

Preheat oven to 350, grease an 8 inch square pan. Cream butter blend
in vanilla. Sift together 1 1/2 c. flour and icing sugar; blend into
butter mixture. Press into prepared pan; bake in preheated oven 20
minutes.

Sift together granulated sugar, 1/4 c. flour, baking powder and salt.
Blend in eggs and vanilla. Add walnuts and/or cocanut, cherries; mix
well.

Pour over baked mixture and bake 30 minutes longer. Cool and cut
into 2 inch squares.
