Cooking Preparation of the Recipe:

2 c Applesauce, Divided 2 T Cold Water
1 ea Env Plain Gelatin 4 lg Egg Whites Beaten Stiff
1 t Vanilla Extract Whipped Cream

NOTE: An airy, easy, and unusual German Dessert (The name means
Witches' Snow.) It should be served with crisp spice cookies. Heat
1/2 cup of the applesauce in a saucepan. Dissolve the gelatin in the
water, when it is softened, stir into the hot applesauce and blend
until the gelatin is dissolved. Add the vanilla to the remaining 1
1/2 cups of applesauce and combine with the gelatin mixture. Fold in
the egg whites and chill thoroughly. Top with chopped candied ginger
or toasted sliced almonds, if you like. Serve with unsweetened
