4 Slices whole wheat bread 1/2 ts Garlic powder
16 oz No-fat refried beans 1/2 ts Salt (opt)
1 c Cooked brown rice or millet 1 tb Arrowroot (cornstarch)
1/4 c Oats 3 ts Minced onion/and parsley
1/4 c Tomato paste (optional)
Process bread, one slice at a time, in a bry blender to form soft
curmbs. Mix all ingredients together well. Form into 8 patties. Brown
on each side in a vegetable oil sprayed non-stick skillet. Seve as is
or on whole wheat buns with the works. (I substituted 1 cup of bread
crumbs for the bread, 1/4 cup ketchup for the tomato paste.)
