Cooking Preparation of the Recipe:

6 md Apples -
1 1/2 ts Baking Powder 3/4 c Honey
1/2 c Shortening 2 tb Shortening
1 tb Butter 1/4 ts Cinnamon
1 tb Lemon Juice 2 tb Butter
2 c Sifted Flour 1/4 ts Salt
3/4 ts Salt 1/4 ts Nutmeg
1/3 c Milk Honey Sauce-----
6 tb Honey

Dumplings:

Pare and core apples. Sift flour with baking powder and 1/2 tsp salt;
cut in shortening. Add milk, mixing until soft dough is formed. Roll
dough into 12 x 8 inch rectangle; cut into 6 squares. Place an apple
in each square. Combine butter, honey, lemon juice and 1/4 tsp salt;
blend well. Fill apple centers with mixture. Moisten edges of dough
with cold water. Bring 4 corners of dough over top of apple; press
edges together firmly. Place in greased 10 x 10 x 2 inch pan.

Honey Sauce:

Combine honey, butter, shortening, and salt with 1 1/2 cups of water.
Bring to a boil; boil for 5 mins. Pour over dumplings. Sprinkle with
cinnamon and nutmeg. Bake at 400 F for 30 to 35 mins.

Yield: 6 servings.
