2 c Butter or margarine -- 1/2 ts Salt
Softened 1/2 lb Semisweet chocolate
1 c Confectioners' sugar Or milk chocolate
4 c All-purpose flour Confectionery coating, m
2 c Quick-cooking oats Confectioners' sugar icing,
2 ts Vanilla extract Optional
1/2 ts Almond extract
In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar. Add flour, oats, extracts
and salt; mix well. Roll out dough to 1/4-in, thickness. Cut with a
3-in. heart-shaped cookie cutter; place on ungreased baking sheets.
Bake at 350 deg. for 12-15 minutes. While cookies are warm, spread
melted chocolate on tops. Cool. Using a pastry tube, decorate with
confectioners' sugar icing if desired. Yield: 3-1/2 dozen
