1/2 lb Beef, extra lean, ground 1 3/4 c Water (1 sauce can full)
1/2 lb Italian sausage * 1/2 T Sugar
1/2 Onion, medium, chopped 1/4 t Oregano
1 cn Diced tomatoes (14oz.) 1/4 t Basil
1 cn Tomato sauce (15oz.) 1 Garlic clove, crushed
1 cn Tomato paste (12oz.) 1 Bay leaf, small
1 pk Spaghetti sauce mix ** 16 oz Spaghetti
* Cut into 3/4" pieces ** Italian-style with mushrooms
Cook Italian sausage over medium-high heat until nicely browned.
Remove sausage from pot, leaving drippings. Cook onions in hot
drippings for three minutes; add ground beef. Cook and stir ground
beef and onion until meat is brown and onion is tender. Return
sausage to pot; drain grease from meat mixture. Stir in remaining
ingredients, except spaghetti. Cover; Simmer 1 1/2 hours, stirring
occasionally.
Cook spaghetti according to package directions. Serve meat sauce
over hot spaghetti; top with parmesan cheese, if desired.
