Cooking Preparation of the Recipe:

1 c Butter -- softened 1/2 ts Salt
1/2 c Sugar 1 c Pecans -- finely chopped
4 ts Vanilla extract 2/3 c Candied cherries -- red
2 c All-purpose flour Chopped
1/4 c Unsweetened cocoa powder Confectioner's sugar
1 tb Instant coffee -- granules

In a mixing bowl, cream butter. Gradually add sugar and banilla; beat
until light and fluffy. Stir together flour, cocoa, coffee and salt;
gradually add to creamed mixture. Mix well. Stir in pecans and
cherries. Chill dough for ease of handling if necessary. Shape into 1
in. balls and place on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake at 350 deg. for
15 min. or until cookies are set. Cool on wire racks. Dust with
confectione's Yield: about 6 doz.
